Assignment Breakdown
Throughout the physics course the class will demonstrate their understand in a numerous amount of ways. Through group activities, labs, individual worksheet practice, thought challenges, and formal assessments, the students will be asked to think about the world around them in a manner in which they may not be familiar. We focus on a conceptual approach to physics. This means that the mathematics required to complete our physics questions will not extend too far beyond algebra and the Pythagorean Theorem. In this course we do not weight the grades, which means that each point on any assignment with the exception of the final exam counts as much as any other point.*
While the assignments are not weighted, each semester grade will be weighted. This means that both markings periods will be worth approximately 42.5 percent of the semester grade leaving the last 15 percent to the exam.
*This policy is subject to change based on how many formal labs we may be able to accomplish. If we can work in a large enough number to build a third category I will weight the grades based on percentages to be published right here at the time of change. If the grades get weighted, there will be a heavy emphasis on individual assessments with labs and homework to follow.
